Technicolor Sunset

Yet another visual treat from Chicago. At first I didn't think the sunset was going to be very colorful . Then the colors just started intensifying by the minute.

DragonFire

What a mesmerizing show, shifting tones by the minute - yesterday was one of the best sunsets I've seen in a while. I actually ended up getting a lot of good images. This was the grand finale. I love the transition from the smooth magical silver at the top to the fiery reds and oranges at the bottom.

Ogden Slip

Taken during Bike the Drive when the Lakeshore Dive is closed to vehicles. You do get some unique vantage points that you usually cannot get to without causing a traffic incident.

Chicago Cloudscape

Perfect lighting with the sun on one side and perfect cloud cover over the city center. This view never gets old

Fireworks on the Beach

This was totally a lucky shot. I was taking a 30 second long exposure of the skyline and halfway through someone decided to shoot off fireworks from the beach. Moral of the story - on 4th of July, keep shooting!

Silent Sentinels

The mission for the morning was to catch slhouettes. These trees waiting for the sun to rise were willing subjects.

I've been waiting for a while for some fast moving clouds to make an appearance. Yesterday evening there was just the perfect amount of clouds to get this long exposure.

Cold Winter Morning

Went out to the lakefront on a freezing morning before work. The lake was perfectly calm and I was glad that the wind was not blowing with the sub zero temps.

Topsy Turvy

Everything goes down hill with the mad morning rush. I'm glad it's Friday!

Supernova

The winter solstice sun rose over the horizon lighting up the freezing waters of the Lake with a warm glow.

Breaking Dawn

The color spread across the skies long before the solstice sun made its appearance. The lake has already started its slow freeze.

Color Wheel

Love the colorful lighting on the new ferris wheel at Navy Pier. I wonder if the lights will be up all winter. Want to try reflections of that on ice

Played around with 3 exposures from sharp focus to all bokeh. So much warmer with the unfocused elements added in.
