Down by the River
Two fishing canoes rest in the still waters while the warm morning light casts reflections. I could stare at this for hours....
Yes, the river knows
The river meanders lazily enjoying the sunshine. The scene was so tranquil that it was easy for me to move my tripod head to capture this dreamy panorama.
Sunrise on Kolukkumalai
The sun slowly breaks through the thick haze of the fog, lighting up the mountain side with golden light.
The Rolling Fog
Emerald green tea gardens caressed by the slowly rolling fog. One really has to be up at sunrise to get this magnificent view
Broken Pier
I grew up around here and at that time there was pier here that was perfectly intact. It was built by the British in 1871, and now this is all that remains.
The Jaggery Maker
Every day he toils in a hot room scraping jaggery (unrefined sugar) and shaping them into balls for sale at the market.
Nigiri Tahr
It really looked like this beautiful Nilgiri Tahr wanted his portrait taken. Actually I was way too close for comfort.
Earth to Sky
The little tree seems to be reaching up to the clouds trying to make a connection, or is it speaking to the clouds trying to bring down rain?
A Wall of Fog
It's amazing being on top of the Nilgiri mountains watching the fog roll in as the sun sets. And then you see the reverse process when the sun rises.
Fog in the Nilgiris
The early morning sun heats up the fog as it rises from the valley. It'll all be clear in an hour or so.
Foggy Bottom
The fog rolls off the tea gardens of Kolukkumalai
Trees and Fog #1 - Veiled
They slowly march behind the veil like ents going to war
Trees and Fog #3 - Smoke
Shifting fog and sunshine gave this a smoky look
Trees and Fog # 2 - Eerie
Are there ghosts lurking in the mist?
Cascading Beauty
This was a bit of a difficult waterfall shot. I had to expose over 3 seconds because the whole area was in shade. The real problem was that I had stand in the running water and balance the tripod on some rocks. Took me a few tries to pull it off.
Lion Head
Mighty helios, he cuts through the curtain of clouds lighting up the fog filled valley. That moment the rays break through is so beautiful to behold.
Resilience
Defying the constant pull of gravity it hangs on. Harsh conditions make beautiful subjects.
